Pompeii and the Cities of the Roman World
The maps below are supplementary material for the Pompeii and the Cities of the Roman World course. Developed using Google Maps, these allow the presentation of information tagged to places on maps, making it easier to visualize both high-level maps and more detailed sites and, in our context, their archaeological features.
In each map you can:
- Click on location markers for further information about that location.
- Zoom in and out on the maps by using the navigation on the left-hand side of the map.
- Move around on the map itself by clicking on the map and dragging with your mouse.
- Choose to view the map in Map, Satellite photo (the default), and Earth modes using the buttons in the top right hand corner of the map.
The Earth view provides a three-dimensional version of the map, but requires a plug-in to work. If you are interested in this functionality you can download the plug-in at the Google Earth API page. (See the FAQs for compatibility information.)
Please note that more help in using Google Maps generally is available through Google’s own support page. If you are studying the course and have any questions about specific maps please contact the tutor in the relevant forum.
